Meta’s Mouse-Tracking Software Plan Sparks Growing Employee Backlash
Published: · Source: rss.donga.com

Meta is facing growing internal backlash over a project to collect employees’ real computer-use data for artificial intelligence agent development. Reuters reported on the 12th local time that Meta employees circulated flyers opposing the company’s planned “mouse-tracking software” and also launched an online petition. Since last month, Meta has been pursuing a plan to use employees’ mouse movement paths, clicks and keystrokes as training data for AI agents. The flyer included the line, “Do you want to work in a factory that squeezes employee data?” The petition argued that extracting employee data without consent for AI training should not become normal corporate practice. Meta spokesperson Andy Stone cited the company’s earlier position that real use cases are needed to develop AI agents that help with everyday computer tasks. Source: rss.donga.com
