Samyang Foods Vice Chair Kim Jung-soo, 62, will be promoted to chair. The company said on May 15 that its board met on May 12 and approved the promotion, with Kim set to take office on June 1. The move comes about five years after she was promoted from chief executive president to vice chair in December 2021. Kim is the daughter-in-law of late honorary chair and founder Jeon Jung-yoon. After marriage, she was a homemaker before joining Samyang Foods in 1998, when the company was struggling after the beef tallow controversy. She is credited with turning Buldak Bokkeummyeon, launched in 2012, into a global brand. Revenue rose from 642 billion won in 2021, when she became vice chair, to 2.3517 trillion won in 2025, while the operating margin increased from 10% to 22%. Samyang Foods said the decision aims to respond to global business growth and strengthen leadership and responsible management. Source: rss.donga.com
