Sewoon District 4 Residents Urge Withdrawal of Heritage Impact Order

Residents of Seoul’s Sewoon District 4 demanded on the morning of the 14th, at the district opposite Jongmyo, that the national heritage agency immediately withdraw its order requiring a Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) before redevelopment. The Sewoon District 4 residents’ representative council said the order affects the redevelopment process and expressed opposition. An HIA reviews how development near a World Heritage site may affect heritage value. Residents are resisting the mandatory assessment as redevelopment of Sewoon District 4 approaches and are calling for the order to be withdrawn.
