GTX-A Samsung Station Construction Error Triggers Ministry Audit of Seoul
Published: · Source: rss.donga.com

South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on May 15 that construction errors were found on the Samsung Station section of the GTX-A metropolitan express rail line, which is undergoing comprehensive test runs with the goal of linking all sections this year. The ministry has begun emergency on-site inspections and related measures. The section is being built by Seoul City under commission from the National Railroad Corporation. On April 29, the ministry was told that errors, including missing rebar, had occurred and that reinforcement plans had been prepared. However, after confirming that Seoul City first received a report from the contractor in November last year, the ministry began auditing Seoul City and the railroad corporation, citing project management concerns. Seoul’s reinforcement plan will be verified by an accredited institution, and the timing of non-stop passage through Samsung Station will be decided later. Source: rss.donga.com
