Lee Visits TK New Airport Site as Funding Delays Draw Fresh Attention

President Lee Jae-myung visited the planned site of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport, known as TK New Airport, on May 15 in areas of Gunwi County, Daegu, and Uiseong County, North Gyeongsang Province. He reviewed the project’s progress and said he found it “very regrettable” that the project had been delayed due to funding and other issues. The visit came after Democratic Party Daegu mayoral candidate Kim Boo-kyum said a day earlier that he would support national funding for the airport’s construction. According to presidential office deputy spokesperson Ahn Gwi-ryeong, Lee carefully asked officials at the site about the additional costs and fiscal burden caused by the prolonged project. A Daegu city official requested national-level support.
