Korean Self-Driving Cars Face Rules as Tesla FSD Operates More Freely

Korean autonomous vehicles are being constrained by domestic regulations and can effectively operate only on highways or other limited sections, according to the report. Tesla vehicles equipped with supervised Full Self-Driving, or FSD, can navigate alleys in Seoul, while Korean autonomous cars face a much narrower operating scope. A feature like Tesla FSD, which can turn on the signal, change lanes and attempt to overtake when the vehicle ahead is slow, cannot be introduced in Korea. Hyundai Motor President Jose Munoz said the company plans to add hands-off autonomous driving capability to the Genesis G90 within this year, but it remains unclear whether the vehicle will be limited to certain roads or receive certification at all.
