VISCAT Builds Robot Operating System to Link Different Machines Into One Brain
Published: · Source: rss.donga.com

Startup VISCAT is building a system that links robots of different types into a single workflow for more efficient operation. At its office in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the 6th of this month, CEO Ko Dong-wook explained the need for a shared “brain” when multiple robots move together. If a kitchen robot, delivery robot and cleaning robot must deliver a cola in one space, the system has to decide when the drink is taken from the refrigerator, where it is handed over and how robots should detour if a passage is blocked. Industrial sites have used system integration methods to connect robots, but VISCAT focuses on making different models easier and faster to connect and operate. As robot use expands, coordination among heterogeneous robots is expected to become more important. Source: rss.donga.com
