Tesla said on its X account on May 10, local time, that a Full Self-Driving (FSD) vehicle drove itself from New York to Los Angeles without driver intervention. A team of three drivers used Tesla’s FSD technology in a U.S. cross-country “Cannonball Run,” covering 4,559 km in about 50 hours and setting a new record. The company’s autonomous-driving performance was also reflected in safety testing. According to Reuters and other reports, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on May 7 that the 2026 Tesla Model Y passed an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) evaluation newly added to the revised New Car Assessment Program. The test was added to the existing NCAP after U.S. congressional approval in 2024. The long-distance no-intervention drive and ADAS test result are drawing attention as factors raising expectations for robotaxi commercialization. Source: rss.donga.com
