US April Producer Prices Jump 1.4%, Annual PPI Inflation Rises to 6.0%

The US Labor Department said on the 13th that the producer price index (PPI), wholesale prices at the final stage before reaching consumers, rose 1.4% in April from the previous month. It was the largest monthly increase since the 1.7% rise in March 2022, when the economy rebounded after the COVID-19 downturn. PPI rose 0.7% in March, when the Iran war began, and 0.6% in February, before the war. Annual PPI inflation, measured against April 2025, widened to 6.0%, the highest since 6.4% in December 2022.
