Hyun Su-yeop Named Welfare Vice Minister, Lee Jong-wook Customs Chief

President Lee Jae-myung on the 15th appointed Hyun Su-yeop, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Welfare, as first vice minister, and Lee Jong-wook, deputy commissioner of the Korea Customs Service, as customs commissioner. Presidential communications chief Lee Gyu-yeon said Hyun, 52, had served in population and childcare policy posts and contributed to improving childcare teachers’ treatment and introducing extended daycare while raising four children as a working mother. Lee, also 52, was cited for uncovering large-scale illegal transshipment exports and joint drug enforcement with Thailand.
