Ascon Shortage Prompts MOLIT to Prioritize Safety and Livelihood Sites
Published: · Source: hankyung.com

South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said it is managing demand for scarce construction materials, including asphalt concrete, with priority given to safety and livelihood-related sites. According to hankyung.com, some work was partly halted due to shortages of insulation, waterproofing materials, sealants and asphalt concrete. As of March, asphalt concrete supply was down 30% from a year earlier, while prices had risen 20% to 30%. The ministry is seeking to minimize full project delays by moving ahead with other work first and will continue site checks through a public-private consultative body so urgent projects receive priority deliveries.
