Samsung Electronics union rejects 12% operating-profit proposal as strike concerns grow
Published: · Source: rss.donga.com

Samsung Electronics labor and management failed to reach an agreement on May 13 after a post-mediation process led by the government at the National Labor Relations Commission in Sejong. The talks lasted 28 hours over two days. The Samsung Electronics branch of the Samsung Super-Enterprise Union maintained its demand for 15% of operating profit and rejected the commission’s 12% proposal. Chair Choi Seung-ho said the post-mediation talks had finally broken down. The commission also said it ended the process because the gap between the two sides remained wide. Further negotiations are unclear. The company said it would keep trying to avoid the worst outcome through sincere dialogue, while the union said it would proceed with a strike. Source: rss.donga.com
