Samsung Electronics union demands negotiator change before talks resume

The Samsung branch of the Samsung Electronics super-enterprise labor union said on the 15th that Samsung Electronics must replace its lead management negotiator and show a substantive change in position before collective bargaining can resume. The union said it met that day with Labor Minister Kim Young-hoon and officials from the Ministry of Employment and Labor. During the meeting, the union explained the course of negotiations so far, Samsung Electronics’ business structure, and the key issues currently at stake. It said Minister Kim understood the union’s position and would clearly convey its views to management. Earlier the same morning, Samsung Electronics sent an official letter to the union, reaffirming its previously proposed flexible performance bonus reform plan and asking to restart dialogue.
