‘Everyone’s Startup’ Draws 62,944 Applicants, Deadline Extended After Server Errors

South Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups said applications for the national startup audition project ‘Everyone’s Startup’ closed at 8 p.m. on the 15th, with a final total of 62,944 applicants. The project began accepting applications on March 26 and reached 10,000 applicants on April 20, 27 days later. As the deadline approached, applications increased rapidly, surpassing 40,000 on the 14th and then passing both 50,000 and 60,000 on the 15th. When a sharp rise in simultaneous users caused system errors just before the deadline, the ministry extended the original 4 p.m. closing time by four hours. Young applicants accounted for 68% of the total. People in their 20s made up the largest share at 33.2%, followed by those in their 30s at 25.7%, 40s at 18.4%, teenagers and younger at 9.1%, and people aged 60 or older at 3.8%.
